If you're starting a business and need help with essential start up costs, for example furniture or the first lot of stock, we may be able to help.

How to apply for Self-employment start up payment

Call us on 0800 559 009 and we'll book you an appointment to come in and see us. If you have a business plan, you'll need to bring this with you.

At the appointment, we'll:

ask you about your business
talk with you about:
- how to create a business plan, if you don't already have one
- a Business Training and Advice Grant and how this may be able to help.

We then send your business plan away to get independently assessed. If your business plan is viable, we can approve the payment.

If you can apply online for more than one service, you only need to fill out the form once.
